Hi Valentina, so I know your name but why don’t you introduce yourself to the MMM Foodie Community!

Hi, I am Valentina Mussi, resident of Sunny Isles Beach. I am never home though, I always find myself roaming around South Florida — I’ll go from being up in Delray Beach in the morning to being down in Pinecrest in the afternoon. I am a full-time digital content creator of all things food and lifestyle.

So you’re a very popular food blogger now but how did it all start?

Sweetportfolio started two years ago after a three-week trip to New York with my best friend. We became obsessed with viral food videos on Facebook and made a huge bucket-list of all the places in the city that we wanted to check out and eat at. We probably gained 5 pounds from all of the crazy ice cream cones we ate. I began to photograph all of the crazy eats and shared them on Snapchat with my family and friends. My dad told me they were disappearing way too quickly (the lifespan of a snap is only 24 hours) and that I should start an Instagram account . Well, the rest is history.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

My biggest inspiration is my family, most specifically my parents. Not only they have a real love for gastronomy and eating well, but they have proudly instilled their cultures in me. My father is Italian and my mother is Colombian.

What has been one of your favorite partnership experiences?

My favorite partnership is the one I currently have with Google Pixel. I get to try their new devices like the Google Pixel 3 and the Google Pixel Slate tablet almost before anyone else. As a part of their ambassador program, I was invited to a trip with 50 other creators to Marfa, TX back in March of this year. We went camping in the dessert and went through a series of photography and art workshops — it was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life! You definitely develop an emotional connection to the outdoors when you are out there constantly interacting with like-minded people. I don’t exactly know how this partnership came to be since the team at Google reached out to me first, but what I do know is that there was something about the content I create that caught their eye. As creators, it is essential to be innovative and ensure that your content reflects your personality because you never know who is watching.

What is one tough experience that you went through that helped you become the person you are today?

The passing of my grandfather while I was living in America. Never did it cross my mind that he could pass away so suddenly, but it happened and I wasn’t there. That’s not exactly something you overcome, but rather something you learn from. It’s been three years and I do miss him on a daily basis, we were incredibly close, but I try to make the most out of it. I learned from this experience to become more appreciative of life and humble — I am thankful for what I have and whom I am. You never know when you may lose it all.

What’s an exciting project that you have coming up?

I can’t exactly announce what it is just yet, I love a good surprise element. All I am going to say is that you should expect longer video formats from me where I show myself and offer my opinions on foods and whatnot.

What does community mean to you?

Community to me is a group of people from different cultures and backgrounds coming together due to a shared interest or goal. It’s finding a sense of belonging in a group of people.

What does the word ‘Experience’ mean to you?

An experience to me is something that is stimulating and thought-provoking. Experiences are important because they create lasting impressions and start conversations.

Name 3 Hidden Foodie Gems in Miami that you would recommend?

Mora Pizza in Wynwood is a tiny shop that sells incredible vegan pizza with eccentric toppings like garlic rolls and spaghetti with falafel meatballs.

Aventura D’Lites in Aventura is super fresh non-artificial frozen yogurt and soft serve ice cream.

Airport Cafe & Liquors in Miami Springs is one of my favorite spots ever with daily specials featuring uncommon ingredients like Flamin’ Hot Cheetos in a sandwich. Also, the very best flan and arroz con leche (rice pudding).
