The Experience

Little Havana is the heart of Cuban culture in Miami. When it comes to discovering the authentic soul of Miami infused with the smell of cigars, rum and the sounds of salsa Little Havana is your premiere destination. Step into Ball & Chain Lounge originally opened in 1935 as a saloon.Wander into the deep green front bar room where you’ll be greeted by one of their ‘cantineros’ (mixologists) where they’ll make you a fresh Mojito with Bacardi Rum, fresh lime juice, sugar and mint sprigs. Enjoy the sounds of a local salsa or jazz band while you sip your mojito and even take a chance on dancing with the locals. Exit the lounge to the left and right next door look up to see a 50 foot tall ice cream sculpture at Azucar. Opened by female founder Suzy Battle you’ll submerge your taste buds into an eccentric collection of flavors highlighted by the most popular choice ‘Abuela Maria’ topped with Guava,Cream Cheese and a Maria cracker. Take your Abuela Maria for a stroll around the neighborhood making sure to check out Tower Theater, Calle Ocho Walk of Fame and see how the locals play a typical game of Dominos a Maximo Gomez Park known to locals as Domino Park.
